Are you trying to find some family fun for your vacation to Coronado or the San Diego area? …On a budget? Well, you’ve chosen a great destination. With so many beaches and affordable things to do, places to explore, and more, we have some affordable ideas that kids and parents alike will love.
Bring the whole family to Coronado this year!
Hop on a bike. It’s free!
When you stay at Crown City Inn on Coronado Island, you have access to our complimentary beach cruisers! These bikes are a perfect way to explore Coronado and the rest of the city. So slap on some SPF and make your way to Coronado Beach or the park — whether that’s beautiful Coronado Tidelands Park, Centennial Park, or Sunset Park is up to you.
Jump in the pool — if not the ocean!
Every kid gets a special goody bag when they check in at our Coronado Island hotel. You’ll find something age-appropriate and unique in every bag, but we do like to hand out a coloring kit, a few fun toys, and goggles — so your crew can have some fun out in the sun. At Crown City Inn we have our own private pool, so you can rest assured that everyone is safe to play here! But you really ought to visit Coronado Beach while you’re in town. It’s one of the best!
Pick up a cone and watch for whales!
Whale watching is practically our official pastime here in the San Diego area. Stop by any of the many gelato and ice cream shops along the pier by the Coronado Ferry Landing or along Orange Avenue, and just sit back with some binoculars. You’ve had a busy day! We like Nado Gelato and MooTime Creamery, and you can’t really go wrong with good old Cold Stone.
Check out some of the free summer activities available on the island.
Every Tuesday, we greet the Coronado Farmers’ Market with open arms. Whether you’re shopping for some fresh local produce or in the mood to browse artisanal soaps, there’s always something for everyone.
All summer long, we get to enjoy the Coronado Summer Concerts series. Maybe not the top choice for some especially antsy little ones, but they play a broad range of genres and it’s a free way to relax.
Browse the Coronado Ferry Landing Marketplace. Similar to the (outdoor) Farmers Market, this indoor mall houses storefronts and stalls of dozens of local vendors.
