When you visit Coronado, you’ll mingle with tourists and locals alike. The beautiful island is home to many fun and exciting events. But if you really want to brighten your trip, stop by Art in the Park next time you’re in Coronado.
What is Art in the Park?
Art in the Park is a way to celebrate and showcase local artists. It is also a great way for you to get to know all of the artists and their work. During this event, you’ll be able to see the work of over 50 of the Coronado and San Diego areas’ best artists. These artists cover many diverse genres, and you’ll want to take your time browsing the booths to really see all that there is to offer.
Some of the art mediums covered are:
- Oil
- Acrylic painting
- Watercolor painting
- Etching
- Photography
- Wood working
- Metal working
- Stained glass
- Ceramics
…and many others!
Many of these artists already have their artwork represented elsewhere in the community, so this provides a way for the artists to get to know their potential customers.
How do the artists join?
Once a year, a jury convenes to vote on the artwork of artists new to this event. This jury of five peers will examine the work to make sure it meets the Art in the Park quality standards. Some things this jury looks for are: consistent professional quality, creativity, and originality.
One of the requirements for becoming a vendor is that you must showcase your own artwork. This way, you are able to interact with the artists when you visit their booths.
