Attend the Coronado Summer Concert Series and read on to learn more about this essential Coronado summer tradition.
Series History
Gene Cech, a Coronado High choir teacher, created the Coronado Summer Concert Series in 1970. Mary Carlin King and Floyd Ross also played major roles in the growth of the series, including fundraising for the series’ current bandstand. In 2010, it started to be produced and managed by Coronado Promenade Concerts, instead of independently. After taking some breaks due to the pandemic, the 2022 series will be recognized as the Fan Favorite 50th Celebration!
Fan Favorite 50th Celebration
The 2022 Summer Concert Series will offer 15 concerts on Sunday nights from May to September. Bands will play all genres of music, ranging from classical to 30s to Latin, so there will be something for everyone to appreciate. The concerts take place at Spreckels Park, one of the most famous parks in Coronado. In addition to being a safe and fun atmosphere for families on a daily basis, the trees around the park are magnificent and can even be toured! Admission to each of the concerts is free, but the ambiance is priceless!
