Collecting seashells is one of our favorite beach activities! Not only is it fun to search for the shells along the shore, but they also make great souvenirs! Next time you’re in Coronado doing some seashell collecting, check out these beaches to find the best shells.

Coronado Beach

Coronado Beach is a must visit for anyone in Coronado because of its beauty, but it’s also great for seashell collecting! The soft white sand is inviting to walk along as you explore, and you can keep your eyes peeled for plenty of shells washed up in the tide. While finding seashells here can occasionally be hit or miss, this is still a great spot to search. When you find that perfect shell while surrounded by the beach’s beauty, that’s a perfect Coronado day.

Dog Beach

At the Coronado Dog Beach, your dog can help you search for seashells! At this beach, your dogs can roam leash-free to explore the sand and sea. They can play with other dogs, cool off in the water, and dig in the sand. And maybe they’ll dig up some great shells! If you are bringing your dog to Coronado, make sure to stay in a pet friendly hotel.

Silver Strand Beach

Our favorite spot to collect seashells in Coronado, Silver Strand offers beaches that face both the San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean. And if you’re looking to do some Coronado seashell collecting, you’ll want to visit the Bay side. There, you’ll find warm, calm waters and a beach with plenty of tables, barbecue pits, and fire rings. But you’ll want to go south of all that to find the shells. Search the one and a half miles of natural beach to discover seashells and possibly even sand dollars!

Bonus: Point Loma Tide Pools

Although you can’t do any Coronado seashell collecting here, the Point Loma Tide Pools is still a great spot to visit! You can admire the shells and the other marine life while you’re there. In addition to seashells, you’ll see barnacles, sea urchins, sea stars, mussels, and more! Just remember to look, not touch.
