As wildfires continue to affect northern California, homes have been destroyed and forests have been devastated. But our state stands strong and stands together. Here are some ways you can help the victims of the California wildfires.
Donate items
If you have anything around your house that you can spare, consider donating it to California wildfire relief. This can be clothes, food, or even furniture. Consider using an organization such as the California Association of Food Banks to discover local food banks in need of donations.
Donate money
As the fires continue, a monetary donation to a nonprofit will be able to direct the money to wherever it is most needed. This way, you can guarantee that your donation is going directly towards relief efforts. Some organizations currently accepting donations are the American Red Cross, California Fire Foundation, and the Wildfire Relief Fund.
Donate time
We all know time is a precious resource, and donating that time to volunteer can make a huge difference for victims of the California wildfires. If you do have time to spare, you can directly help a few organizations. California Volunteers has a list on their website of organizations in need of volunteer assistance. The American Red Cross and humane societies are other great options for volunteering.
Another way to volunteer your time is by opening your home to foster pets. Many animals have been displaced as a result of the California wildfires, and as shelters become full, fosters are more important than ever. You can find more information here.
