Coronado Holiday Parade: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

The Coronado Holiday Parade is an annual event with festivities to celebrate the official beginning of the holiday season! Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year in Coronado and kick off the season with the city’s holiday parade.

When is the parade?

The Coronado Holiday Parade 2019 takes place on Friday, December 6th at 6:00 pm.

However, the holiday festivities start even before the parade! Santa will arrive at the Ferry Landing at 3:20 pm, accompanied by carolers. You can partake in this festive fun, and be sure to stick around after the Coronado Holiday Parade as well! At 7:00 pm, make sure you’re at Rotary Plaza for the lighting of the Christmas tree! Each year, one family will be chosen to assist with the lighting.

Throughout the evening, the stores along Orange Ave will have treats and holiday fun to get you in the mood for holiday cheer!

Where is the Coronado holiday parade?

The Coronado Holiday Parade runs from 8th and Orange Ave to RH Dana Place, before turning around and heading back the way it came.

Will there be other holiday activities throughout the weekend?

Yes! After enjoying all of the fun events on Friday surrounding the Coronado Holiday Parade, continue the festivities throughout the weekend.

  • Coronado’s Artisan Alley, December 7th
    • During the Coronado Artisans Alley Craft Fair, you can check everything off your Christmas shopping list! The vendors at the fair will be selling homemade crafts and unique gifts, with all proceeds from the fair supporting the Coronado Band & Choir (in the elementary, middle, and high schools). There is a $2 entrance fee, which includes a raffle ticket to win one of over 160 items graciously donated from vendors. Throughout the fair, the middle and high school band and choir will be performing holiday music.
  • San Diego Bay Parade of Lights, December 8th and 15th
    • The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights starts on Sunday, December 8th. The parade of lights is a tradition thanks to San Diego’s boating community, although everyone is welcome to participate. This year’s theme is “Comic Con on the Bay,” and there will be over 80 decorated boats in the procession. There is no charge to view this procession, so come out and enjoy one of Coronado’s most iconic events!
