The Winter’s Tale Coronado is Perfect End of Summer Entertainment

The Coronado Playhouse’s newest play is now open! Celebrate the end of summer and beginning of fall by going to see Shakespeare’s classic work, The Winter’s Tale. This is your first chance to see The Winter’s Tale Coronado, as the playhouse has never performed it before.

About the play

In The Winter’s Tale, King Leontes is a delusional and paranoid king who believes his wife has betrayed him by having an affair with King Polixenes. He sends one of his lords, Camillo, to poison Polixenes for this crime. However, Camillo instead warns Polixenes and both flee the kingdom.

Leontes believes this is proof of the affair, and sends his wife Hermione to jail. He also orders one of his lords to abandon his newborn daughter, believing the child not to be his. After this, Queen Hermione falls into a coma and Leontes is told she is dead.

Meanwhile, a kindly Shepherd is raising the daughter, now named Perdita. One day, a stranger arrives on the coast and Perdita falls in love with him. But who is this stranger? And what is his connection to Perdita’s royal past? Will King Leontes ever reconcile with his family?

As the events of this tragicomedy unfold, you’ll find shocking revelations, strong emotions, and plenty of humor to balance it out! Find out what happens to Leontes, Hermione, Perdita, and everyone else when you go see The Winter’s Tale Coronado.
