Pet-Friendly Fun in Coronado

A family vacation should include everyone you love, which is why Crown City Inn prides itself on being pet-friendly and welcoming your four-legged friends. But even pets don’t want to be cooped up in the room all day, so we’re here to help you plan accordingly!

Dog Beach

This is fun unleashed and its open year-round! At the Coronado Dog Beach the entire family enjoys the sun’s rays and gets a little vitamin SEA. While the view isn’t too shabby either (positively gorgeous!) it’s vital that you keep a watchful eye on your pup and clean up any messes throughout the day. Visit the website for more information on rules and regulations!

Tartine European Style Café

Just along First Street in Coronado, there sits a quaint European style café where your beloved companion can lounge beside you – it’s Tartine. After opening in August 2001, the location became “a focal point for excellent cuisine in a casual and inviting atmosphere.” But best of all? They don’t just say they’re pet-friendly, they act on it; word on the street is they offer delicious homemade dog treats!

McP’s Irish Pub

When you’re thirsting for a cocktail, look no further than McP’s, especially if you’re visiting Coronado during the last Wednesday of the month. Why you ask? Because from 5 – 6:30 PM the pub celebrates a special, pet-friendly Yappy Hour benefitting PAWS of Coronado, a local animal rescue.

Wag’N Tails

Chances are, if you’re enjoying the beach, a bite, and an afternoon filled with activity, your pup might be in need of a hug from some soapsuds! Luckily, Wag’N Tails offers two self-serve dog washtubs as well as high quality food and treats for both cats and dogs. It’s the perfect way for families to unwind before a long and restful evening back at Crown City Inn!

Fourth of July in Coronado

coronado beach san diego caThe soles of your feet coerce the pedals as the Coronado sea breeze swiftly rearranges your hair. Give it 30 minutes and you’ll notice a familiar and growing audience of freckles on your cheeks. This is summer at the Crown City Inn in California – it’s a unique experience that affords visitors with exceptional serenity. Even as a temporary transplant, you’ll find it hard not to blend with the dreamers.

It’s freedom, and speaking of, it’s just about time to indulge in those memorable Independence Day festivities. We suggest you book your stay now; your energy may be waning by the time you’ve fully acquainted yourself with Coronado’s emblematic fireworks!

70th Annual Independence Day Parade

They say the early bird gets the worm, and when it comes to Coronado’s 4th of July parade it couldn’t be more fitting. Set up commences at 5:00 AM along Orange Avenue, and this parade draws a noteworthy crowd. So, rent a bike or don your best sneakers, because you won’t be traveling by car. The actual celebration will take off at 10:00 AM.

Art in the Park

Not long after you’ve secured a spot on Orange Avenue – 8:00 AM to be exact – we encourage you or members of your group to head over to Spreckels Park in Coronado Village. Hosted by the Coronado Art Association, this occasion typically takes place on the first and third Sundays of each month. Lucky for you, the holiday calls for an extra pop of color!

With more than fifty esteemed artists in attendance, as well as a wide array of mediums (painting etching, photography, metal working, stained glass), it’s hard to know where to focus your attention. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up taking a slice of California’s aesthetic splendor home!

Rough Water Swim

Participants aged 12 to 70+ take on the ocean swim challenge and hope to make a patriotic splash! This year marks 60 years of a demonstrative love for the water, and it’s among Coronado’s favorite ways to dive into the 4th of July holiday! Check in takes place at 7:30 AM.

Fireworks Display

Last but not least, the nation’s most revered tradition, a fireworks display. We assure you Coronado’s will not disappoint. Following a community concert in Spreckels Park, you’ll notice an enthused audience around 9:00 PM as sprightly hues immerse the night sky over Glorietta Bay. Now, is there really a better way to end a day along the coast? We think not!
